Blind Date with a Book Delivery # 2

Drum roll please!

Drrrrrrrrdrrrrrrdrrrrrrr.....

My first blind date is with....!

"Rivers of London" by Ben Aaronovitch. (I have linked you to the wiki page, but I've not read the page!)

This is London as you've never seen it before. A City of wonders and terrors. A city of ancient secrets, which is haunted by its past. A city where you are never far from magic. A city Peter Grant will help you discover:
My name is Peter Grant, and I used to be a probationary constable in that might army for justice known to all right-thinking people as the Metropolitan Police Service, and to everyone else as the Filth.
My story really started when I tried to take a witness statement from a man who was already dead...

Quite a synopsis, huh?

Going by the description of the Met, and the talk about right and non-right thinking peoples, I am forced to check the publication date, see if that sets off any alarm bells...  2011. Hm. Well there were riots in London that year, which started when troublemakers ruined a vigil for a drug dealer who was fatally shot by a policeman. But going purely from what I know about publishing, this book was conceived well before that!

I hadn't started it yet, but I will today. Unfortunately, I am off work with gastroenteritis. Fabulous. But I guess I can get started on the book today, as I'm not back at work this week at all (which sucks) and I'll have all day tomorrow to help finish it.

I really should stop binge watching UnReal on Prime Videos... The Fiance is trying to catch up to me and it would be nice to finish it off with him.

I'll let you know what I think in 390 pages!
